The No. 2 Warehouse at Zhunan Station Recreates Historical Glory

Miaoli County Government announced that Warehouse No. 2 at Zhunan Station has been officially registered as a tangible cultural asset. This historic building, located on Zhongshan Road in Zhunan Township, Miaoli County, showcases the architectural techniques and craftsmanship of the Japanese colonial period. After extensive discussions by the review committee, its cultural value was confirmed, and it was officially registered as a historical building.

The warehouse, constructed by the Railway Bureau using post-World War II techniques and materials from the Japanese colonial era, features detailed architectural elements such as trusses, buttress columns, and fire break beams, reflecting the construction techniques and craftsmanship of that time. Lin Yanfu, Director of the Miaoli County Cultural and Tourism Bureau, stated that through diverse revitalization and reuse methods, these cultural assets will be transformed into vibrant communication platforms, promoting sustainable preservation of cultural heritage together with all county residents. Following this review, the number of designated and registered tangible cultural assets in Miaoli County has reached 101, including national monuments, county-level monuments, and historical buildings. These resources will serve as important foundations for future cultural promotion, continuing to extend and promote Miaoli's rich cultural heritage.
