Taiwan in Turkey promotes the “Migrant TV” which plays a vital role in disseminating the right information to refugees

Refugee crisis & settlement have always been one of the main issues discussed globally. Taiwan in Turkey (駐土耳其代表處) has recently formed a partnership with a Turkish non-governmental organization (NGO) to support the promotion of the innovative “Migrant TV (移民電視)” as well as measures related to the rights of refugees.

Huang Zhi Yang (黃志揚) - the Representative of Taiwan in Turkey, and Ibrahim Vurgun Kavlak - the Director-General of the Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (ASAM), signed the contract in Ankara to start the one-year project of “Migrant TV”.

The main aims of “Migrant TV” are to help refugees receive correct information through the Internet. In addition to Turkish, programs are also produced in the languages used by major local refugee groups such as English, Arabic, French, Somali and Persian. Afghan language is also planned to be an additional language in the future.

It is hoped to provide refugees with a reliable Internet channel, so that they will be able to learn information, gain knowledge, and build a sense of belongings through the Turkish government ministries and international organizations related to United Nations.

Huang Zhi Yang stated that “We are confident that the Migrant TV Partnership will help those in need.” The spirit of “Taiwan Can Help” is once again demonstrated through actions.
