Taiwan’s first naturalized foreign "Taiwanese language program host" is French new immigrant "Remy Gils"

The Ministry of the Interior (MOI, 內政部) recently held a review meeting for naturalization of high-level professionals. A total of 17 high-level professionals have passed the review, including 8 in the cultural field, 2 in the science and technology field, 4 in the economic field, and 3 in the education field. Among them, Remy Gils (吉雷米) from France has resided in Taiwan for more than 14 years. He is Taiwan’s first foreign host of a Taiwanese television program and was nominated for the 55th Golden Bell Awards (且曾入圍第55屆電視金鐘獎). In addition, since the implementation of the amendment to the Nationality Law on December 21, 2016, a total of 198 high-level foreign professionals who have worked in Taiwan for a long time, loved and recognized the treasure island, have successfully become naturalized in Taiwan.

The MOI said that in addition to Remy Gils from France who was naturalized in Taiwan, a world-renowned American cinematographer by the surname Bao (包), who won the Hong Kong Film Awards, Asia Pacific Film Festival, Golden Horse Awards, Asian Film Awards, and other best cinematographer awards, showed professional cinematography skills and participated in the filming of many Taiwan movies, making a big contribution to the nation's film industry.

Mr. Ji (吉), a Russian media journalist resident in Taiwan, is fluent in Chinese, Russian, and English. He created his own CYBERTECH brand to export to the Russian market. He has outstanding professional talents and international experience in the rubber and plastic injection equipment industry, and has improved Taiwan’s rubber and plastic injection machines, contributing to the development of this industry.

In addition, after high-level professionals are naturalized in Taiwan, they can have political rights and enjoy various social welfare benefits. The Global Information Network of the Department of Household Registration of the MOI (內政部戶政司全球資訊網) has a special department for high-level professionals to apply for naturalization. Foreign high-level professionals are welcome to apply for naturalization as "Real Taiwanese" (正港台灣人) and united to work together for this land.
