In cooperation with IC Voice FM97.5 【New Students Registration-We are in Taiwan】, a series of exciting stories about new immigrants in Taiwan is launched. This episode features a new immigrant from Vietnam - Ding Shi Rong (丁氏蓉), who started residing in Taiwan 16 years ago after marriage. However, she did not give up her dream of becoming a teacher. Instead, she chose to further her studies in universities and Postgraduate education. For now, she is serving as a Vietnamese teacher in many places and is highly praised by students for being an enthusiastic teacher who provides in-depth content knowledge.

Ding Shi Rong mentioned that when she first came to Taiwan, she was not very fluent in speaking Chinese, so she decided to learn Chinese again by joining supplementary lessons in elementary school at night. She mentioned that this period of time is one of the most enjoyable times she experienced. For the period of master’s study, she grew up the most because she needs to be independent and acquire a lot of knowledge.

For now, Ding Shi Rong has published Vietnamese textbooks "Fall in love with Vietnamese" and "Vietnamese Love to Learn Chinese". "The first tip for learning Vietnamese is to learn the pronunciation properly," she says with a cheery tone of voice. “The books are available on Books.com.tw and welcome everyone to support my hard works”

Besides, Ding also took the initiative to participate in an activity held by the Immigrant Family Service Center of Hsinchu City. Through the activity, her life was greatly enriched by obtaining new knowledge and the introduction of Vietnamese history (geography, history, architecture, culture) that she’s especially into the topic. It is believed that she can be an ambassador who promotes the Vietnamese culture to the public in Taiwan with her strong passion for constantly learning something new.

Recently, Ding is also learning the professional skill of "embroidery (紋繡)". During the summer vacation, she made use of her free time to learn a new specialty and the skills might enable her to earn a livelihood in the future. Ding told us that she will publish a new book next year and will share her new work with readers in the future.
