Directorate General of Highways, MOTC announced that migrant workers only need to prepare the original residence permit, etc., and are exempt from the employer's consent form to apply for “motorcycle" and "mini electric two-wheel vehicle" licenses. Regarding the relaxion of migrant workers’ rights and interests, the MOTC have approved on December 30th last year that, in addition to the cancellation of the mandatory attachment of employer’s consent form to purchase miniature electric two-wheeler, the 28-year-old regulation that migrant workers must attach employer’s consent form to purchase motorcycles is also abolished.
Directorate General of Highways, MOTC issued a press release stating that from now on, when migrant workers apply for "motorcycle" and " mini electric two-wheel vehicle" licenses, they only need to prepare "the original residence permit, seal, factory certificate, uniform invoice, and Compulsory auto liability insurance certificate with a validity of 30 days or more.", the attachment of the "Employer's Consent" is no longer needed.
In addition, when obtaining licenses, the highway supervision offices will provide a notice of relevant traffic safety rules to promote the various road traffic safety rules and regulations to migrant workers.
The website reminds migrant workers that the "Mini Electric Two-wheel Vehicle Zone" has set up an easy guideline in 6 languages. Migrant workers are encouraged to check the relevant information in advance on the required documents for applying for a license and enjoy the measure of exempting the license fee of NT$450 for listing before December 31st, 2023.
