[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] The second phase of mask-loosening measures was issued by the Central Epidemic Command Center on February 9th. From February 20th, indoor masks are not required, and locations where masks are required will be noted. Masks are still required in classrooms before March 5th because the timeline for mask removal in schools at all levels is relatively late and won't be put into effect until March 6th.

Taiwan has implemented the first phase of mask-loosening measures from December 2022. Masks are not required to be worn in public areas that are outside. CECC chief (王必勝) stated at the end of the previous month that Taiwan will follow South Korea's lead in relaxing its restrictions on wearing masks indoors. Currently, South Korea says that masks are not required to be worn indoors, but they are required to be worn in public transportation systems, healthcare facilities, and other locations.
The second phase of mask-loosening measures is expected to be implemented on February 20th, and schools at all levels will be on the road on March 6. Therefore, masks must still be worn in classrooms before March 5. In the campus area, in principle, "decide independently whether to wear a mask" indoors, but you still must wear a mask all the way on the school bus and health center.
On February 20th, the second phase of mask-loosening measures is anticipated to go into effect, and on March 6th, all levels of schools will resume their regular schedules. Hence, until March 5th, masks are still required be worn in class. One can "decide independently whether to wear a mask" indoors on campus, but one must wear one the entire trip on the school bus and health facility.

Regarding the specifics of campus implementation, the Ministry of Education separated school mask zones into three categories of controls: "indoor campuses, designated places, and special situations" based on the suggestions of the command center. Teachers and students may choose to wear masks indoors on campus, but according to regulations, masks must be worn in designated places, such as health centers, or on public transportation such as school buses and shuttle buses.
