:::

This time, the reporter of the NIA Global News interviewed Tseng Pei-Hsuan, who was chosen into the “7th Dream Building Program for New Immigrants and their Children” by NIA.

Tseng Pei Hsuan (曾珮瑄) is a next-generation new immigrant studying at Jian Guo Junior High School in Miaoli County (苗栗縣建國中學). Tseng was chosen into the “7th Dream Building Program for New Immigrants and their Children” by NIA, together with her mother Phung Thi Anh (逢氏英), classmates Zhang wen ci (張玟慈) and Deng Hui Yun (鄧惠云), and under the guidance of teacher Huang Chiu Hsiang (黃秋香).

Tseng shares that her classmates had many ideas when they discussed the theme of the film. With all the ideas in mind, they went through all the opinions, and chosen the best idea to put into practice.

Tseng says,“We discussed a lot about the theme of the film. At first, I wanted to make a film featuring the piano, but this topic is quite narrow.” Hence, after some discussion with her teacher, the team decided to film about the Miaoli old trails, because the public is not familiar with this topic yet.

When the NIA reporter asked if Tseng would like to share anything with the new immigrants, Tseng says, she hopes to let more and more people see the beauty of the trails in Miaoli with the theme “Shadow the New Footprints on Old Roads”(影出古道新足跡).

At the end of the interview, Tseng mentions that she is very thankful of her mother. She says that her mother is a new immigrant in Taiwan. Therefore, her mother always encourages her to participate new immigrant related activates. And it was Tseng’s mother who told her about the “7th Dream Building Program for New Immigrants and their Children.”

Tseng not only explored the special culture and history of their hometown (Miaoli) with her classmates, but also learned how to communicate and cooperate with each other.

More important of all, Tseng also had an opportunity to spend time with her mother, and together recorded their “Shadow the New Footprints on Old Roads”(影出古道新足跡) in Chinese and Vietnamese.
