[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] NIA Kaohsiung City Service Center recently conducted the "Family Education and Law Publicity Course for New Immigrants", and specially invited the director (賴愛仁) of Manila Economic and Cultural Office, Kaohsiung Extension Office, to share the unique cuisine, attractions, and culture of the Philippines with new immigrants. In addition, the director (賴愛仁) promoted "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" of National Immigration Agency.

Mavudis Island in the Philippines is approximately 99 kilometers from Jimagaod (小蘭嶼) in Taiwan, according to the director (賴愛仁). The 7,641 islands that make up the Philippines can be broadly classified into the Luzon Island, Visayas Islands, and Mindanao Island. These three significant archipelagos are represented by the three stars on the national flag.
The Philippines is a perennial winner of the world travel attractions and is home to numerous historical artifacts and stunning natural scenery. The nation's capital, Manila, is a city that blends the ancient and modern, Palawan is a haven for wild plants and animals, and Boracay boasts wonderful beaches. It is difficult to resist the allure of the Philippines' stunning white sand beaches, warm hospitality, and varied and delicious cuisine.
The director (賴愛仁) also taught everyone how to say "kumusta po (hello)", "salamat po (thank you)" and other practical Tagalog greetings in daily, and explained that "po" after the greeting sentence expresses respect and politeness mean.

According to the director (徐志權) of NIA Kaohsiung City Service Center that with the epidemic situation in various countries is gradually easing, and international flights are also resumed, National Immigration Agency launched “Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program” from February 1st to June 30th this year. Those who "self-report" during the program period will be given a "lenient" punishment, includes no detention, minimum fine of NT$2,000 and exemption of entry ban.
NIA has set up a free consultation hotline 0800-024-881 (ByeBye) for this program, which provides multi-language services. Citizens and foreigners who have overstayed (resident) can also use this hotline to inquire.
