British YouTuber Allan has been a resident of Taiwan for more than ten years. On his YouTube channel "lifeintaiwan - 英國叔叔," he frequently discusses his experiences in Taiwan and his opinions on the country. In this episode of the “New Immigrants in Taiwan” column, by visiting unmanned stores in Taiwan, Allan investigates if Taiwanese individuals can be trusted and whether they are truthful.

According to Allan, Taiwan has the best law and order system and most honest people in the entire globe. Taiwanese are frequently observed at food courts and coffee shops where they safely occupy seats with their bags or mobile phones. at coffee shops, they also safely place their laptops on the table and take a temporary leave. Taiwanese stores also display their goods at the entrance to the business, never fearing that customers may take them.

In the video, Allan shares Taiwan's excellent law and order from the viewpoint of a new immigrant who has lived there for more than 10 years. In Taiwan, there are a lot of unmanned stores, including unmanned bakeries, book sharing settings in parks, etc.

In this type of unmanned business, the rules and information are clearly written down, a safe is provided for payment, and the consumer deposits the money after receiving the items. According to Allan, the fact that this kind of stores’ existence demonstrates a high level of confidence in individuals. The business owner must think that consumers won't steal the items from the store. He also thinks that items may have been taken long ago if they were in his nation or other ones.

In several MRT stations of Taiwan, unmanned mobile libraries have been put up where people may borrow books at no cost. Allan described the location of the book exchange as 2Gather Park in Taichung City's Nantun District. People can bring a book to swap for a book in the box, and books are packaged in waterproof boxes. This is another proof of mutual trust among Taiwanese, claims Allan. Because nobody will visit this location to steal or harm books. He also said that from here, we could see how hard Taiwanese people work to make their nation attractive and fascinating.
