LINE Officially Supports QR code for Real-Name Registration System

TAIPEI (Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network) - LINE officially supports the “SMS Real Name Registration System” using its QR code scanner to save time! 

The Executive Yuan (行政院) launched the “SMS Real Name Registration System” which uses QR code and SMS messaging. Many users initially found that the built-in QR code scanner inside the LINE app does not support this “SMS Real Name Registration System”. But after a version upgrade, the LINE QR code scanner can now be used to register via SMS messaging.

Initially, the LINE QR code scanner did not support the “SMS Real Name Registration System”.  A notification to “quit” pops up after scanning the QR code, and the app cannot proceed to the next page to send the SMS message. The registration can only be completed through the “Medical Management LINE group”(醫管家) of the Center for Disease Control (CDC, 衛生福利部疾病管制署) . But now, the registration can be directly completed by updating LINE to version 11.10 or higher (iOS/Android).

After the update is completed, you can find the QR code icon on the right side of the search bar at the top. There is no need to enter the Line account of the CDC’s medical management group anymore. You can directly use the built-in QR code scanner of LINE to log in the "SMS Real Name Registration System". In addition, the user can long press the LINE icon on the screen, and the shortcut option of "read mobile barcode" will pop up, and then use the QR Code scanner to save you another second.
