According to The Star, Rebecca and Rachel Joe, Malaysian twins, had no prior experience playing the dhol two years ago. They now receive requests to perform the dhol at events both domestically and abroad. Thanks to the Instagram account, which has amassed over ten thousand followers.
About two years ago, when their older sister Evelyn Rose was organizing her wedding, everything started. The pair made the decision to do a skilled dhol performance for her as a surprise at the wedding.
They looked online for a musician who plays the dhol but ultimately opted to teach themselves the instrument in time for her big day.
Considering that they had never taken formal music instruction before, it seemed like a ridiculous idea. "At first, we were absolutely terrible to play a specific beat, and it took us roughly three to four months,” Rebecca said.
The twin learned how to play the dhol through Manvir Hothi’s YouTube tutorials. “We wouldn't be performing at events right now without his videos,”
