After getting married in Taiwan, she has been residing in Changhua and assisting immigrants and their children to adapt to the local community.

Lin recalled that after she got married in Taiwan when she was 20 years old, she witnessed that communities need various resources. This is therefore she began to engage in advocating for immigrant rights.

After years of dedication, she now demonstrates a high level of proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and Hokkien dialects. Lin also mentioned that languages are of great importance to maintain a cross-border marriage. In addition, she has been awarded “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Taiwan (十大傑出青年)” before and is the initiator of the Overseas Empowerment Program for Children of Immigrants returning to their home countries.

As the first immigrant legislator in Taiwan, she shows her love for Taiwan by participating in Public Affairs.

Besides, Lin launched a book “New Spirit of Taiwan: Lin Li Chan's journey of living in Taiwan (新台灣精神:林麗蟬從柬埔寨到台灣文化融合與在地耕耘)”. She believes that through the power of knowledge, she can achieve more objectives and change society.
