On May 11, the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia ended. After the summit, the leaders of the participating nations came to three conclusions, according to Indonesian President Joko Widodo: safeguarding migrant workers and those who have been the victims of human trafficking; attempting to find a solution to the problem in Myanmar; and enhancing ASEAN economic cooperation. The establishment of an electric car ecosystem was also agreed upon by the leaders of different nations.

The safety of migrant workers and human trafficking are top priorities for the governments of the two nations. The Philippine police saved more than a thousand victims of alleged forced fraud and human trafficking, particularly on the eve of this conference. The victims originated from several Asian nations. In order to combat human trafficking, Indonesian President Joko Widodo urged ASEAN members to take action.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo noted that the attending heads of state at this summit had all resolved to get in touch with the Myanmar military administration and relevant parties and engage in humanitarian talks over the issue there. Joko Widodo added that leaders of various nations also decided to establish an ecosystem for electric vehicles in order to make them a significant component of the global supply chain and to strengthen the connection of digital payments as part of efforts to strengthen ASEAN economic cooperation.
