On July 31st, the Taoyuan Airport MRT Laojie River Station (A22) began operations. It is anticipated that this would revitalize the Laojie River commercial area. By connecting Taiwan Railway, High Speed Rail, Taoyuan Airport MRT, and Taipei MRT once the project's extension to A23 Zhongli Station is finished in the future, it would be possible to widen the one-day commuting radius between Taipei City and Taoyuan City. On the opening day, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications also organized an official ceremony to commemorate the inauguration of Laojie River Station (A22).

It is difficult to carry out such a project more than 20 meters underground, Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) stated in his statement at the inaugural ceremony. In the future, it will be extended to A23 Zhongli Station and connected to the Taoyuan MRT Green Line to improve public transportation in Taoyuan and advance the growth of the Zhongli neighborhood.

It will only take 10 minutes by MRT to get to Taoyuan Qingpu to watch baseball, shop, and transfer to the high-speed rail after Taoyuan Airport MRT Laojie River Station (A22) is began to operations. According to current projections, the project's extension to the A23 Zhongli Station will be finished in July 2028. It will be more convenient for daily living in Taipei Taoyuan once it opens to traffic at that time.
