[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] National Immigration Agency has been promoting the "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" NIA Taichung City First Service Center sent the mobile service train, marching to ASEAN Square and Taichung Tanzi Technology Industrial Park to visit migrant workers, hoping that through the influence of fellows, overstayers will be encouraged to self-report and work legally in Taiwan.

Near Taichung Train Station lies ASEAN Square, a typical Southeast Asian business zone where foreigners congregate in Central Taiwan. The mobile service train from the NIA Taichung City First Service Center specifically traveled to the ASEAN Square to propaganda "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" to the merchants there and the immigrant population there. Export Processing Zone Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs worked with this action mobile service train to visit authorized migrant workers in the Tanzi Technology Industrial Park and convey the program's objectives to them.

According to director (王驥) of NIA Taichung City First Service Center, from February 1st to June 30th, 2023, those who meet the project requirements and self-report will only be required to pay a minimum fine of NT$2,000 with no detention exempted from entry ban. NIA encourage any foreign nationals overstayed to self-report. Otherwise, after the end of the project, those who self-reported or seized and found will be dealt with according to the amended law, which, in the future, may extend the prohibition period and increase the penalty for overstay.
