An online survey on the planning and decision-making of studying abroad was conducted by the Association of International Cultural and Educational Exchange Taiwan among 1,000 foreign students from 55 countries from April to June 2023 on what worries students the most about searching for work after graduation in response to the industry's shortage of jobs following the epidemic.
According to the survey, international students are most concerned about finding job quickly after graduating, followed by their ability to work in a field that suits them and the employment rate. If given the option to choose another foreign country besides Taiwan, most people still prefer English-speaking nations like Canada and the United States, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom, and the majority of Asian regions are China, Japan, and South Korea.

The survey also revealed that 31.3% of respondents knew very little about Taiwan's higher education and Chinese language environment, while 52% were utterly ignorant about it. This demonstrates that Taiwan's higher education and Chinese language instruction still need to gain more international acclaim.
The industry anticipates that the government will make it easier for foreign professionals to work in Taiwan or for overseas Chinese students to come to Taiwan in order to address the talent shortage there. This is especially true given that many overseas Chinese students already have a strong sense of service and a willingness to learn about Taiwanese culture. If the employment application procedure in Taiwan can be made simpler, it is thought that this will encourage students to stay in Taiwan after graduating and bring in a lot of top-notch labor.
