The representative of Malaysia Friendship and Trade Center (馬來西亞友誼及貿易中心) He Rui-Ping (何瑞萍) called on Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-Mai (陳其邁). Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-Mai said that since the Central Government implemented the "New Southbound Policy" (新南向政策), Taiwan and Malaysia have had closer economic and trade exchanges, and the feelings between the people have become deeper. Malaysian cuisine is popular in Kaohsiung, and Mayor Chen’s wife also likes Malaysian durian very much. Through the convenient e-commerce platform, Malaysians in Taiwan can easily enjoy the taste from their hometown. In addition, Chen Chi-Mai's wife, Wu Hong (吳虹), a gynecologist, is an overseas Chinese from Malaysia, so he emphasized that "as a Malaysian son-in-law, meeting representative He Rui-Ping is as warm as seeing a family member".

Representative He Rui-Ping also said that because of the epidemic, she has not returned to visit relatives in Taiwan for two years, and he hopes to resume bilateral cultural and tourism activities as soon as possible after the epidemic. Mayor Chen, who loves diving, said that Malaysia is an excellent diving destination in Southeast Asia and the food is also very delicious. He looks forward to further promoting the relationship between Kaohsiung and Malaysia. Finally, representative He Rui-Ping presented Malaysian specialties such as durian mooncakes and whiskey. The mayor smiled and said that his wife can taste their nostalgic hometown flavor.
