During the summer vacation, the Ministry of Education (MOE, 教育部) encourages students to learn the new immigrant’s language at home. The K-12 national education syllabus has been in use for two years already. The new immigrants’ language textbooks for 7 countries are currently in the fourth volume. However, the digital version of the learning materials has been advanced and completed to the 16th volume. The K-12 Education Administration of the Ministry of Education (K12EA, 教育部國民及學前教育署) encourages students to study the "New Residents Children’s Education Website" at home.

Chen Pi-yu (陳碧玉), head of the K12EA, said that the digital learning materials for Taiwan’s new immigrants’ languages cover 7 languages including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia. The learning materials are presented and recorded in both Mandarin and in the foreign language. Dialogues, interactive quizzes and nursery rhymes, can be connected to a variety of media or multi-screen reading, making the teaching and learning process more effective.

In addition, there are a total of 18 textbooks for each of the new immigrant’s language and the digital version has been completed up to the 16th volume. Students or people interested in Southeast Asian languages may access the digital course section of the "New Residents Children’s Education Website", and the "New Residents Distance Learning Channel", both are free of charge. The K12EA will continue to revise the textbooks based on the feedback from the new immigrant’s language teachers. The 18 volumes of digital learning materials in each language are expected to be completed in 2022.
