According to The Straits Times, despite the difficulties, Singapore's Red Cross Youth (RCY) rose to the occasion during the Covid-19 pandemic and contributed significantly to keeping Singaporeans safe, according to Minister for Culture, Community, and Youth Edwin Tong.
They assisted in sending foods to front-line employees and expressed support for the elderly by writing notes on care packages for them.
At the Red Cross Campsite at Opera Estate, where the club was celebrating its 70th anniversary, Mr. Tong said: "Because they were unable to leave house as easily as you and I during the pandemic, our elders suffered the most. Therefore, such small acts of kindness meant a lot."
The RCY members assisted in promoting the value of vaccinations during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The immunization rate we have now is one of the highest in the world, thanks in large part to those efforts, according to Mr. Tong.

He continued by saying that young people in elementary and secondary schools perform community service, offer first aid at sporting events, and assist in raising money for charitable causes and social services.
Ground-up initiatives are led by those who attend tertiary institutions, such the yearly Project R.I.C.E+ campaign, which collects items for needy families' daily needs and distributes them.
