The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) announced on Monday that children aged between 12 and 18 will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT) vaccine after the Mid-Autumn Festival.

If students feel unwell after vaccination or voluntarily go to medical institutions for vaccination, they can apply to the school for 3 days of vaccine leave, which will not be included in the absence record, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said.

If necessary, the vaccine leaves can be extended and parents can also apply for epidemic-prevention care leave if they need to take care of their children, the MOE added.

According to the Ministry of Labor (MOL), the "epidemic-prevention care leave" refers to parents, adoptive parents, guardians, or personals taking care of children (grandparents). One of the parents taking care of the child must apply for the "epidemic-prevention care leave" and can also apply for an extension if necessary.

Employers must grant the leave as shall not treat it as absenteeism. Forced labor as personal leave should not affect the full attendance bonus. In addition to the "epidemic-prevention care leave", parents can also apply for the "family care leave", "special leave", or "personal leave".
