Vietnam - An over VND1.2-billion award for AI and IoT startup competition

"AIoT & Smart Cities 2019 " national competition has just kicked off with the first announcement in Ho Chi Minh City before moving to Hanoi, Da Nang and Can Tho this month.

This contest aims to to find start-up projects featuring artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet (IoT) applications, held by Quang Trung Software Business Incubator (QTSC Incubator), sponsored by Department of Science and Technology Ho Chi Minh City and supported by HCA, VAIP and QTSC.

Preliminary rounds will take place until the end of the following month. 50% of the projects and incredible ideas will be re-selected in the semi-finals which takes place from July to September. The final round takes place in October with 3 tables and a total of 13 prizes worth more than VND1.2 billion.

"Artificial intelligence in the 4th Industrial Revolution will be the key to make our society develop quickly and improve the quality of life," said Vu Anh Tuan - Director of QTSC Incubator, Head of the Organizing Committee.

Most of the winning ideas will be considered for incubation from 6 months to 2 years, as well as supported for registration to attend the SpeedUp program of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City. The groups are also consulted, receive skills training to improve product quality, business models and receive orders from businesses and organizations.

"Ho Chi Minh City is implementing the research program and application of artificial intelligence in the period of 2019-2025. The contest will also contribute partially to the program, proceeding to help solve big problems of the society, enterprises and community in the future", said Nguyen Viet Dung - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology.
