French social media influencer Remy Gils (一粒米) from Provence, South France, has resided in Taiwan for 15 years. Recently, he was naturalized as a high-level professional and received a Taiwan identity card. Remy Gils is a variety show guest, a writer, and also a marathon runner. He is also the host of the program “Nothing By Bus” (無事坐巴士) on PTS and was also a finalist for the Golden Bell Awards.

Remy is committed to the promotion of Taiwan's native languages and cultures. After Taiwan’s nationality law was amended, high-level professionals in North Kaohsiung were exempted from giving up their original nationality.

Remy becomes the first person naturalized in the Republic of China. He expressed his feelings on Facebook, “I finally got a Taiwanese ID card after being naturalized as a high-level professional.” He also stated that the process is really not easy, and he cried tears of joy when he received his ID card.

He also shows his special gratitude to the second service station of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) in Kaohsiung City, the Household Registration Office in Jiading District and the full support of his wife Jiang Pei Jing (江佩靜).

Lin Jian Zhi (林建智), director of household registration office in Kaohsiung City, said that he is very pleased to cooperate with the second service station of National Immigration Agency (NIA) in Kaohsiung City to assist outstanding new residents to obtain identity cards without giving up their original nationality. Remy said that he has always treated Taiwan as his second hometown in his life. He will continue to work hard to preserve Taiwan’s native languages and cultures and make the world see Taiwan.
