To implement the first phase of the government’s “National Child Care Policy for 0 to 6 Years Old” (0至6歲國家一起養政策), the child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy will be increased in August 2021. The child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy will each be increased by NT$1,000 and the second child will receive an extra subsidy. Families who receive parental leave-without-pay allowances and disadvantaged families may apply at the same time, benefiting about 340,000 families with children under the age of two.

The new child-rearing allowance will be increased from the current NT$2,500 to NT$3,500, NT$4,000 for the second child, and NT$4,500 for the third child. By August next year, the allowance will be increased to NT$5,000, NT$6,000 for the second child, and NT$7,000 for the third child. For the child daycare subsidy, children under the age of 2 who are sent to quasi-public childcare centers and qualified quasi-public babysitters. The subsidy will be increased from the current NT$6,000 to NT$7,000, NT$8,000 for the second child, and NT$9,000 for the third child. By August 2022, new adjustments of up to NT$8,500 for the first child, NT$9,500 for the second child and NT$15,000 for the third child.

People who received child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy for children under the age of 2 in July 2021, and who are still qualified for the claim in August, the government will increase the amount and will credit it to the same account used for the initial application so there is no need to reapply. From August, those who are applying for parental leave-without-pay allowances and living allowance for disadvantaged families, may also apply for child-rearing allowance at the local government office where the child's household registration is located. For the child daycare subsidy, it may be applied at the childcare unit.

Starting from August in the new school year, the upper limit amount of payment for schooling from ages 2 to 6 will be reduced, and the tuition fees for public, quasi-public or non-profit kindergartens will be reduced by NT$1,000 each. In August 2022, the second phase of the expanded measures will be implemented, and the child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy will be increased by another NT$1,000; and the upper limit of tuition fees will be reduced by another NT$500.
