Dutch missionary Willemsen (韋毅民) and his wife moved to Taiwan in 2020. They have four kids together. Willemsen frequently posts videos of their lives on YouTube. In this episode of the “New Immigrants in Taiwan” column, Willemsen shared how his son, Jamie fell ill and hospitalized. Willemsen praised Taiwan's healthcare system and medical services.

Willemsen brought Jamie to the hospital for treatment after the boy became quite unwell a few days earlier due to the infection. Jamie required hospitalization after three hours of drip therapy because he was still not healthy enough to return home.

Although Jamie was unwell, he did not cry during the hospitalization. Jamie will also cooperate with the doctor's instructions and thank the doctor. He wanted to get rid of the hypodermic needle at first, but later fully adapted. Willemsen believes that Jamie has always maintained a positive attitude. However, Jamie still feels physically unwell from time to time, so Willemsen not only chats with him patiently and gently, but also comforts him with passages from the Bible.

Willemsen stated that Taiwan's health insurance is incredibly good, and it could even be the finest in the world, with regard to the procedure of Jamie's hospitalization Willemsen is appreciative that Taiwan permits foreigners to be covered by health insurance.
