According to Article 7 of the  Income Tax Act, people who have a residence in Taiwan and often live in Taiwan; or do not have a residence but stay in Taiwan for a total of 183 days or more in the tax year are legally eligible for taxation people.

Foreigners who have resided abroad for fewer than 183 days often use the "source withholding" technique, which means that when they get wages and other compensation from their jobs, the tax has already been deducted. The residency period is 183 days (inclusive). Fill up the declaration form with the necessary information and handle it between May 1 and May 31 of each year. Before departing Taiwan, those who plan to leave the country during this time and never return must declare.

The National Taxation Bureau requires new immigrants and foreigners who owe taxes to make a declaration at the location shown on their residence permit. They must provide their passports, residency permits, withholding vouchers, dividend vouchers, and any foreign income they received from delivering labor services in Taiwan while completing their tax declaration. Apply to the Taipei National Taxation Bureau or the Kaohsiung National Taxation Bureau Headquarters if the dwelling address is in one of those cities; if it is in another county or city, apply to the branch, tax collecting office, or service office of the National Taxation Bureau there. Visit and inquire at National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance for more details.
