Taiwan Immigrants' Global News Network-1095 Culture of Immigrants Association Shares Stories of Migrant Workers on the Grasstraw Festival

The largest independently run non-governmental art festival in Chiayi is also a wonderful opportunity for new immigrants to meet others and exchange ideas. In March, the Grasstraw Festival took place and was a success. “1095 Culture of Immigrants Association,” (1095文史工作室) which dedicated to build communication between Taiwanese and visitors brought beneficial conversational exchanges as well.

Local nonprofit “1095 Culture of Immigrants Association” (1095文史工作室) is located in Taichung City. It tells the tale of each and every migrant worker who has boldly crossed borders to chase aspirations during three years in Taiwan. By creating a platform, this may improve Taiwan's cultural diversity and cognitive diversity. to enhance how new immigrants are treated socially and in the workplace in Taiwan.

The intern volunteer partners of “1095 Culture of Immigrants Association” offered the experiential activity (移工行李箱創作) to this Grasstraw Festival. The most popular stalls visited by the public during the day.

As a result of the diversity of ages and origins represented in the production, we are able to observe a range of perspectives on migrant worker and go beyond our narrow understanding of Southeast Asian society.

Many foreigners also stopped by the stand. They work for the Fulbright Taiwan, Foundation for Scholarly Exchange as English instructors. They are overjoyed to learn that we are addressing the issue of migrant workers from other countries and want to know more on what “1095 Culture of Immigrants Association” (1095文史工作室) is working on.
