YouTuber Allan from Liverpool, England, came to Taiwan in 2008. He is currently a full-time YouTuber, sharing his daily life residing in Taiwan on his YouTube channel "lifeintaiwan-British uncle (英國叔叔)".
In this episode of the “New Immigrants in Taiwan” column, Allan traveled to Alishan in Chiayi and visited YUYUPAS Cultural Park (鄒族文化部落) to experience the culture of indigenous people as well as have a taste of the delicacies cooked by The Tsou (鄒族).

YUYUPAS Cultural Park is an attraction that preserves the traditional culture of The Tsou - an indigenous people of central southern Taiwan residing in Chiayi County and Nantou County. The park is surrounded by magnificent mountains and tea gardens, where visitors can have a taste of authentic food, watch indigenous dance & tea picking performances.
Allan has tried many Tsou delicacies such as tube rice pudding with the wild honey topping that makes him astonished. He mentioned that the chef has enhanced the flavor of traditional Tsou food and adapted it to suit the preferences of people in this modern world. For example, wrapping green beans with coffee sauce enables everyone to further taste the sweetness of the bean.

Next, Allan tried salted pork knuckles with fried tea leaves. The founder of the Tsou cultural tribe said that this dish looks inconspicuous but indeed it tastes delicious.
Lastly, “Bean curd made of spring water with Wasabi topping (芥末泉水豆腐)” is made of spring water, with black beans, Alishan Wasabi and nasturtium as side dishes, making the taste a special and flavorful one. Allan then ended the journey on a high note by drinking millet wine (小米酒).
