Kinmen New Immigrants Association holds "Hand-made Wind Chimes" activity, inviting new immigrants’ parents and children to have fun

The Department of Social Work of the National Quemoy University (NQU, 金門大學社會工作學系) and the Kinmen New Immigrants Care Association (金門新移民關懷協會) jointly organized a warm parent-child DIY wind chime activity. The participants were the fathers, mothers, and children of the new immigrants of Kinmen. With the detailed explanation of the lecturer and the assistance of the students from the Department of Social Work, parents and children work together to complete the wind chimes and spend a very warm afternoon together. In addition, the works of the participants will also be displayed in the Kinmen Ocean Art Festival (海洋藝術季活動) for more people to appreciate.

Tsui Wen-Ling (崔芠綾), chairman of the Kinmen New Immigrants Care Association, said that the association is committed to assist and care for the new immigrants of Kinmen. The activity is the first time the New Immigrant Care Association worked in cooperation with the NQU, and the association would like to thank the teachers and students of the university’s Department of Social Work for their all-out support and help in providing the new immigrant families and their children creative opportunities and precious family bonding moments. The children are very happy and have a sense of accomplishment in completing their own works.

In addition, the association has been following new immigrants’ issues for a long time and has worked hand in hand with the school to understand the needs and difficulties of new immigrants. Through the cooperation, the wind chime activity allows the students to practice what they have learned in school, showing their ability to lead the group, and at the same time, improve the quality of parent-child interactions of the new immigrants.
