NIA Hualien County Service Center held "Central-Europe Slovak Cultural Journey" for new immigrants

The National Immigration Agency (Hualien County Service Center) held a "Central-Europe Slovak Cultural Journey" to promote multiculturalism on Thanksgiving Day, inviting new immigrants and their families for a reunion. It is hoped that all participants have enjoyed quality time together, explored and learned about different cultures by interacting with one another.

The event was led by MJARTANOVA EVA (米依欣) from Slovakia. Donned in traditional local costume, MJARTANOVA EVA was highly praised for looking gorgeous. She introduced the natural landscape and cultural customs of her hometown in detail. At the venue, the melodious Slovak music led everyone to follow the Slovak traditional dance, and the activity was a lively one.

After the wonderful lesson, MJARTANOVA EVA made potato salad by herself, mixing potatoes, onions, carrots and a variety of vegetables. The rich colors of the food increase people’s appetite and are well-liked by new immigrants. “I will definitely travel to dreamlike Slovakia if I have the opportunity to do so,” says a participant.

Hu Chao Ren (胡朝仁), the director of the Hualien County Service Station, said that he would like to take this opportunity of this activity to thank the new immigrants for their contributions and efforts made as they have promoted cultural pluralism in Taiwan.

Hu also thanked MJARTANOVA EVA for her lively explanation which has received an enthusiastic response. It is believed that everyone will get to know Slovakia cultures more and visit the beautiful country one day. Most importantly, to promote multiculturalism and build a harmonious Taiwan society.
