According to The Star, for cats, visiting the balcony is frequently pleasant due to the alluring aromas, intriguing sounds, and sun-warming rays.

Sabine Ruthenfranz, host of a cat podcast, advises pet owners to simply make sure the space is secure while keeping an eye out for three specific threats.

She adds that people frequently underestimate this by saying, "For one thing, cats can fall off." Contrary to popular opinion, cats do not always land on their feet—they can get injured, according to her.

Poisonous plants are another issue to be aware of because you don't want your cat to start gnawing on them. Be careful if the sun is too hot because light-haired cats can easily get sunburned.

Installing a net around your balcony will prevent your cat from falling. If you want one that you can screw on or fasten with clamps without drilling, visit a specialist store.

Ruthenfranz advises making sure your net is weatherproof and has a 3 cm mesh width. She advises purchasing a black or dark green one because they are less obvious than white or clear netting.

2 meters or so above the balcony parapet, secure the net. Only if your cat has a strong urge to climb, do you need to close the net at the top as well.
