Xitun Elementary School (西屯國小) in Taichung welcomes the Year of Tiger recently by holding a series of activities, including writing Chinese New Year couplets, printmaking, and achievement showcase of bilingual calligraphy writing. The event is an educational and meaningful one as everyone learns Southeast Asian languages while celebrating the upcoming festival.

Students wrote auspicious phrases in both English and Vietnamese and greet one another. Taught by an immigrant teacher - Ruan Fang Yi (阮芳誼), participants were able to learn a new language as well as have a deeper understanding of different cultures.
Besides, teachers and students showed their printmaking art and distributed red envelopes to the guests. After carving, designing, and printing, school children completed the artworks under the guidance of an art teacher - Zeng Yi Hua (曾奕華).

Su Ren Yan (蘇仁彥), the principal of the Xitun Elementary School, mentioned that holding the New Year celebrations has become a unique tradition of the school. Artworks created by students are popular among residents of the Xitun District. It is hoped that through these activities, students would be more willing to learn different languages.
