Taiwan's athletes participating in the Asian Games in Hangzhou had impressive outcomes. President Tsai Ing-wen particularly sent two F-16 fighter planes to escort them as a sign of welcome. It demonstrated the nation's support for athletics while also conveying her thanks to Taiwan’s Asian Games athletes.

On the morning of the 12th, President Tsai Ing-wen also had a meeting at the Office of the President with Taiwanese delegation of the "19th Hangzhou Asian Games". She expressed her gratitude and congrats to the athletes for never giving up on their goals and for their several historic firsts in addition to their superb performance in the games. Taiwan placed sixth in the Asian Games with a total of 19 golds, 20 silvers, and 28 bronze medals.

According to President Tsai Ing-wen, the Asian Games mark the completion of one phase of aims and the start of the next. She hopes that the athletes will keep winning and that the government will keep supporting them, carrying on the successful Tokyo Olympics and Hangzhou Asian Games, strengthening Taiwan's sporting legacy, and helping athletes pursue their aspirations of competing in the Paris Olympics the following year.
