Ministry of Culture to issue book vouchers during 2021 Taipei International Book Exhibition

The 2021 Taipei International Book Exhibition will combine online and physical elements. Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te announced on September 1 that the Ministry of Culture will be issuing 200,000 book vouchers valued at NT$100 each as incentive to boost purchasing during the exhibition.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Taipei International Book Exhibition moved to the Internet. The 2021 exhibition, held by the Ministry of Culture in conjunction with the Taipei Book Fair Foundation, will be entering its 29th year. It will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center’s Exhibition Hall 1 from January 26 through 31, and, for the first time, the Ministry of Culture will be issuing a limited run of 200,000 TiBE Book Vouchers.

At a media gathering on September 1, Minister Lee stated that while physically holding this year's exhibition had been ruled out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, next year, as part of the move toward a post-pandemic lifestyle, the exhibition would again be held physically under the banner of "Happy Reading!"

A feature of next year's exhibition, he continued, will be the issuing of TiBE Book Vouchers, "each worth NT$100 and limited to 200,000 vouchers during the exhibition period." These vouchers will be valid for use at any booth in the exhibition in hopes of boosting book purchasing power.

Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te (middle) announced on September 1 that the 29th Taipei International Book Exhibition will be held from January 26 to January 31, 2021, and the Ministry will be issuing 200,000 TiBE Book Vouchers valued at NT$100 each.

Ticket-holders for the 2021 exhibition as well as visitors eligible for free entrance to the exhibition will each receive a voucher. People eligible for free entrance include those aged under 18, groups registered for the Winter Vacation Book Fair, overseas visitors, people with physical disabilities, and visitors holding TRA train tickets for travel to Taipei from eastern Taiwan or anywhere from Taoyuan south.

Minister Lee noted, since book companies in other countries may not be able to attend physically, out of consideration for them, there will be an online exhibition. He also emphasized that the facilities and network bandwidth for the exhibition will be upgraded to offer participating units an easier and smoother broadcasting environment.

The 29th Taipei International Book Exhibition will be held at Exhibition Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center from January 26 to January 31, 2021.
