According to 5 top lucky plants to usher in the Year of the Rabbit in Malaysia | The Star, as Chinese New Year gets closer, a lot of plant nurseries are busy. People like to use potted lime trees to decorate their houses for the holidays, making them one of the most popular commodities. According to Kuala Lumpur-based plant nursery Ahmad Nubli, the reason why so many people are lining up to buy them is that they represent luck.

He noted that the nursery has stocked up on 25 varieties of well-liked plants, including pussy willow, chrysanthemums, bamboo plants, and other symbols of luck (wealth and prosperity). The nursery imports a large portion from Muar, Johor, and the Cameron Highlands in Pahang.

According to Ahmad, during the Lunar New Year, individuals are willing to spend a substantial amount of money to purchase prosperity plants. Succulents and bamboo plants are easier to manage, according to the majority of younger consumers. Pitcher plants represent lucky. The hanging pitchers represent long-term wealth and have the appearance of money bags.

Kalanchoe

The Chinese name for this houseplant describes the vibrant landscape that springtime flowers make, which is tons of red and purple. This plant also stands for pleasure and longevity.

Lime tree

Because it represents riches, this plant is a popular item during the Chinese New Year. To bring good fortune, lime trees are planted at the front door entrance. Lime fruits are said to be able to neutralize bad karma and shield homes from misfortune.

Anacampseros rufescens

This plant is a member of the cactus family and is also known by the name Sunrise succulents, which resist drought, succulents retain water in their leaves, stems, or roots. They stand for luck and good fortune.

Red pineapple

The Taiwanese pronunciation of the "pineapple" sounds like "prosperity arrives". Throughout the holiday season, it is one of the most in-demand plants and red pineapples are typically given as gifts.

Solanum mammosum

It is a need for the Lunar New Year since it symbolizes joy and community. The five "fingers" on the fruit are thought to stand for different generations. It represents five generations together peacefully and prosperously in one family.
