Anna from France, who has been residing in Taiwan for 11 years, is a regular guest of the Taiwanese talk show “WTO Sister Show”. She also runs a gym with her husband, and shares her life perspectives on her YouTube Channel “法國Anna”. Besides, Anna’s husband and daughter were also shown in the videos, making the content more interesting. In this episode of "New Immigrants in Taiwan" column, Anna shares her experience of winning a man's heart is through his stomach.

Anna said that every time she asks if her husband is going home for dinner via phone calls, the answer is always “No thanks, I have eaten sweet potatoes.” Hence, she has always been wondering what is so special about sweet potatoes because this kind of vegetable is not planted in France.
This is therefore she brought her daughter Emma to an agricultural museum that introduces planting sweet potato – K.K.ORCHARD, enabling themselves to understand the whole process of planting sweet potato.
Shen Yi Qi (沈奕岐), the manager of the K.K.ORCHARD says that “Due to young people’s lack of willingness to plant, and more elders retired from taking care of the plantation, camera drones are used to patrol over the land.” This not only reduces manpower requirements but also increases the efficiency of plantation patrols.

“Planting sweet potatoes manually is really exhausting,” Anna says after experiencing it by herself. Lastly, she also inquired about how to select and preserve sweet potatoes and tried to make creative dishes after going home. The special design of the sweet potato dishes successfully motivates Anna’s husband to go home for dinners.
