A foreign worker was lying beside the road in Nantou on May 21, showing a high body temperature. In fear that the worker may be infected with the coronavirus, the worker was immediately sent to the hospital with help from the local fire department.
Luckily, the worker received a negative test result in the COVID-19 PCR test afterward.
The foreign worker came to Puli to visit a friend. He was not feeling well and fainted beside the road.
Liao Zhi-Cheng, the mayor of Puli Township, reminds undocumented migrant workers about the new measure launched by the NIA. The inspection is free, and the relevant medical information will not be reported to the police. Migrant workers without valid working documents will not be punished or deported if they take rapid COVID-19 tests and treatment during this period.
Liao adds, Puli Christian Hospital and Taichung Veterans General Hospital Puli Branch both offer rapid COVID-19 testing. Undocumented workers will not be penalized for getting the test.
Local governments have been setting up free Coivd-19 cases due to the rise of domestic infection cases in Taiwan. Nantou County, following the NIA new measurement for undocumented migrant workers and overstaying foreigners, provides rapid Covid-19 test stations in four local hospitals.
And after the incident, Liao says that there is no need to panic because the foreign worker is tested negative.
