National Land Administration Promotes Rent Subsidy and Social Housing Rental Management Policies

The National Land Administration of the Ministry of the Interior stated that to address the housing needs of renters of all ages, the rent subsidy and social housing rental management policies will continue to be promoted this year, providing housing support and assistance. From July last year to the end of May this year, 540,000 households have been approved for rent subsidies. Additionally, since the launch of the social housing rental management program in 2017, 111,000 households have been matched by the end of May this year, totaling over 650,000 households. Under the policy goal of the "Million Rental Housing Support Plan," related housing policies will continue to be promoted to provide suitable housing options for the public.

The National Land Administration further explained that the rent subsidy supports a total of 284,000 households of young people aged 18 to 39, and the social housing rental management has also assisted over 45,000 households, benefiting nearly 330,000 households in total. The proportion of young people benefiting from the total approved households is 52%, with a matching rate of over 41%, significantly reducing the housing burden on young people and young families. With policy support, they can boldly pursue their dreams and have more life choices.

At the same time, the housing needs of seniors aged 65 and above have also received attention. The government actively addresses rental discrimination against the elderly by increasing rent subsidies and implementing the Social Housing Rental Management 4.0 plan, which includes relaxing regulations such as "seniors can change residences across counties and cities" and "private housing to public housing services," to increase seniors' willingness to change residences and provide rental matching assistance. Currently, 47,000 households of seniors aged 65 and above have been approved for rent subsidies, about 8%; for social housing rental management, 14,000 households have been matched, with a matching rate of nearly 13%. The government has comprehensively considered reducing the rental burden for seniors and providing rental assistance, aiming to ensure that seniors have a secure place to live.

 In the future, the National Land Administration will continue to promote various housing assistance measures, including direct construction of social housing, rent subsidies, and social housing rental management. These efforts will be in collaboration with local governments and the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center to improve housing policies and meet the housing needs of people of all ages. Finally, the National Land Administration stated that promoting housing policies is a form of social investment. The results of the current policies have indeed substantially addressed the housing needs of young people and the elderly. In the future, the direct construction of social housing, rent subsidies, and social housing rental management will continue to be promoted. Collaborations with local governments and the National Housing and Urban Regeneration Center will be strengthened to improve various housing policies to meet the housing needs of people of all ages.
