According to Merilles, rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats are required annually. They were successful in immunizing 17,092 pets in total last year.
Pet owners are urged by Merilles to exercise responsibility and get their animals immunized. At the same time, Merilles recommended anybody who wanted the rabies vaccine to go to the Mandaue City Health Office during business hours.
Compared to the 14 cases reported in 2021, Mandaue City reported just five pet rabies cases in 2022. She continued, saying that no human instances of rabies were reported in 2017.
