To focus on social issues and practice sustainable development, the Ministry of Education has launched the "University Social Responsibility (USR) Program", leading the university to focus on issues related to connecting local communities, talent development, and international connections in terms of social engagement.
A University of Science and Technology in Kaohsiung implemented the USR plan and held a multi-cuisine carnival, combining local ingredients with Southeast Asian dishes to form a feast with cultural diversity.
Kao Yuan University (高苑科技大學), Department of Tourism and Management held three multicultural food workshops recently. By using local ingredients such as mutton, honey, tomato, etc., the students cooked Southeast Asian dishes from Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia.
The teachers and students of the department collaborated with new immigrants to complete more than ten dishes together. They had a taste of delicious exotic dishes and enjoyed watching shows.

At present, more than ten universities in Taiwan have participated in the USR program that has reached the second phase so far. The Ministry of Education encourages universities to make use of their professional knowledge and creativity to bridge learning gaps. At the same time, the program also promotes recognition and development of local cultures and integrates them with the worldwide community.
