There are over 50,000 migrant workers overstay in Taiwan. To increase the vaccination rate, the Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency (NIA) is actively promoting the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” for foreign nationals, and emphasizing the four principles of the program, including “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, and “won’t be banned”.

Foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers are encouraged to receive the free vaccination.

In addition, NIA has also launched a multilingual “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” video, including Chinese, English, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai, to help foreigners understand related information.

NIA stated that from now until January 31, 2022, regardless of whether individuals are unaccounted-for workers or overstayers, everyone is eligible for free vaccination. More importantly, one will not get investigated, reported, or banned from entering Taiwan in the future. Hence, foreigners should get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves as well as others.
