During the nationwide level 3 alert, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) Taipei Service Center reached out to 500 new immigrants in Wanhua District via telephone. This is to remind them to reduce unnecessary outings, to take care of their health, and to seek medical attention if they start to feel unwell.

Director of the NIA Taipei Service Center, Su hui-wen announced that from now on, new immigrants can automatically extend their residence period for 30 days. This is to reduce the risk of any cluster infections among migrant workers. If they have been in contact with confirmed cases, please report to the local immigration agency immediately.

New immigrants were very touched by the initiatives taken by the NIA Taipei Service Center. They responded to the staff by reminding them to take care of themselves too.

Hsiao-i (小儀), a new immigrant from Vietnam living in Wanhua District said he was very touched when he received a call from the NIA New Taipei Service Center. Because of the automatic 30-day extension for the residence period, he does not have to worry so much for his family and children anymore.

A new immigrant from Japan, Hsiao-ching (小靜) said she and her husband were feeling unwell and upon the reminder from the NIA Taipei Service Center, they immediately sought medical attention. Fortunately, they tested negative.
