With the gradual increase of immigrants and their children in Taiwan, many renowned companies that have job vacancies are recruiting staff from this group of people. According to the latest statistics from the National Immigration Agency (NIA), the labor force participation rate for immigrants is as high as 70.92%. Companies such as foodpanda, McDonald's and PX Mart have all proposed employment schemes for immigrants.

During the pandemic, the delivery platform – foodpanda sees females’ need to have part-time jobs and immigrants are also part of this group of people. Therefore, a few talks aiming to recruit foreign nationals have been organized.

Although the results were not as good as expected despite the assistance provided by the Department of Civil Affairs, Taipei City Government. The company is searching for potential problems and making an effort to understand the needs of immigrants.

Foodpanda is not the first company to launch employment services for immigrants. McDonald's has cooperated with NIA for a long time by providing internship opportunities for immigrants. Moreover, multilingual recruitment information and training materials are offered too. At present, each branch has a total of 200 immigrants with Vietnamese, Indonesian and Filipino nationalities.

Furthermore, PX Mart also collaborated with Pearl S. Buck Foundation, guiding immigrants through workshops, and providing on-site interviews. The existing number of immigrant staff is 161, and it is expected to rise in the future. CEO of Pearl S. Buck Foundation, Xiao Xiu Ling (蕭秀玲), affirms the company's decision to carry out the program as it encourages immigrants to have new options in job seeking. She also called on employers to treat immigrants fairly.
