Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning in Hungary has been established for almost a year. Along with teaching Traditional Chinese, it also provides opportunities to learn from different cultures and respect each other through activities such as making dumplings and performing traditional dances, emphasizing the communicative and tolerant characteristics of Taiwan.
Since last year, the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Republic of China (OCAC.R.O.C.) has subsidized existing overseas compatriots’ schools in various countries to transform into Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning; in March this year, t Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning in Hungary transformed from Jade Mountain Mandarin School (JMMS) was officially unveiled, and the original association was changed to a non-profit school organization. At the beginning, 31 students were recruited, and 41 students were recruited in the second semester starting in the fall, including many Ukrainian refugees.
It is Taiwan’s value to learn from the integration with different cultures. Overseas Community Affairs Council, Republic of China (OCAC.R.O.C.) also encourages students to think out of boxes, to see the differences of others, and to highlight the communicative and tolerant characteristics of Taiwan. In addition, OCAC.R.O.C. recently organized a seminar in London, and more than 40 directors and teachers of Taiwan Centers for Mandarin Learning from European countries were invited to share their experience on recruitment and promotion.
