[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network]The Taipei City Government has proposed a maternity subsidy plan to boost the initial amount of maternity subsidy in order to increase the fertility rate of Taipei City. The applicable regulations will be put into effect following the announcement on April 4.
The population of Taipei City decreased below 2.5 million during the outbreak. The Taipei City Government has regularly adopted new policies in an effort to address the current condition of Taipei City's declining total population and slowing population growth. The goal is for the population to reach 2.5 million once again. The mayor of Taipei(蔣萬安), stated that population increase is not something that can be accomplished immediately. The Taipei City Government also put out pertinent measures designed to raise the fertility rate, raise the initial level of childbearing subsidies, and raise the incentives for citizens to have children in an effort to increase the population.

Beginning on April 4th, the new birth bonus sum will rise from NT$20,000 to NT$40,000 for the first child, making it the most in the nation, NT$45,000 for the second child, and NT$50,000 for each subsequent child. The Taipei City Government will also establish additional related packages and incentives in addition to the maternity bonus in order to retain talent. According to the director (陳永德) of the Department of Civil Affairs, Taipei City Government, Taipei City would offer perks including social housing in addition to fostering and supporting children. 23,000 infants are anticipated to benefit from the new policy once it is in place.
