Erinne from Medan, Indonesia and Ievins from West Kalimantan have been studying in Taiwan for more than three years, it has been said that the Dihua New Year Shopping Street in Taiwan has the liveliest Lunar New Year vibe. Dihua Street will transform into a 24-hour New Year shopping street each year before the Lunar New Year. Many foreign tourists visit here to enjoy the most authentic New Year vibes of Taipei City, in addition to Taipei residents who come here to purchase New Year's products.

The Dihua New Year's Shopping Street, which had been shut down for two years due to the pandemic, has finally reopened this year. The Dihua New Year Shopping Street has resumed to open for 24 hours from January 6th through January 20—the Lunar New Year's Eve.

Erinne and Ievins discovered that there are so many kinds of snacks to be prepared for Lunar New Year in Taiwan, they like mochi and malau(麻荖) the most. Although they have tried this Lunar New Year dessert in Indonesia before, Taiwanese mochi has a whole big strawberry wrapped in it. Malau also has a lot of nutty flavors.

What made Erinne very curious is that Taiwanese people loves to eat mullet roe, which is not only a delicacy for the New Year’s Eve dinner, but also a snack package in small pieces.

Ievins sampled the Taiwanese roasted pork jerky on the Dihua New Year Shopping Street. she hardly ever eats pork jerky in Indonesia. Ievins claimed that after visiting Taiwan, she discovered that the pork is great in a variety of ways. Even this roasted pork jerky is quite tasty.

Erinne and Ievins enjoyed the most authentic Taiwanese New Year atmosphere on their first visit to the New Year's Shopping Street. They hope to visit the Dihua New Year's Shopping Street again with family next year.
