Visiting chronic disease wards is allowed under 3 conditions, CECC says

The pandemic outbreak in Taiwan has slowed down.

Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) have weighed the needs of inpatients and the hospital visits and announced the latest "Hospital Measures in Response to the Epidemic" (醫院因應疫情應變措施) to conditionally reopen chronic disease wards to visitors.

In addition, the following areas and patients are also open for visits, such as intensive care wards, hospice wards, respiratory care wards, psychiatric wards, children’s wards, patients with physical and mental disabilities, patients in critical illnesses, and patients in exceptional circumstances.

• Details of precautions for visiting aforementioned wards and patients

1. Visitors must meet the following requirements

• Have no COVID-19 related symptoms
• Have not been in contact with confirmed cases
• Have no history of activities in related public places
• Must wear a mask during visits.
• Be aware of hand hygiene.

2. Visiting time is fixed every day, and each inpatient is limited to meet at most 2 visitors per time.

3. All visitors should present a negative nucleic acid test (PCR) report or rapid antigen test report (including rapid test kit). However, the visitors are exempted from the aforementioned tests if they have been fully vaccinated for 14 days or more or if they have been released from isolation treatment after being infected within three months.

CECC reminded that since the hospital is a field with a high risk of infection transmission, unnecessary visits should be avoided during the pandemic. It is recommended to choose video calls or telephone calls instead of on-site visits. If there is still a need for visits, visitors should still follow real-name registration and hospital regulations.
