According to The Manila Times, the Philippines recorded another drop in new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) at 4,842 on May 12, the Department of Health (DoH) said but attributed the decline to the low submission of data by its designated Covid laboratories.
The DoH said a total of 33,529 samples were tested, 4,191 or 12.5 percent of which were found positive for the virus.
It said five laboratories were not able to submit their data.

The Manila Times mentions, there were 8,312 people who have recovered, bringing the total count to 1.046 million, or 93.6 percent of the total 1.118 million infections.
Of the 53,214 active cases, 96.6 percent are mild, moderate, and asymptomatic while the rest remain critical or severe.
The death toll is at 18,714, including 94 fatalities that were recorded on May 12.
Occupancy rate for intensive care unit, isolation and ward beds in Metro Manila are at 66 percent, 46 percent and 50 percent respectively.
