According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, singer Jon Guelas, a Filipino-British, decided to stay in the Philippines in order to reconnect with his Filipino background and share his unique music genre with listeners.

The Vivoree Esclito and the Breakthrough Six Outstanding Men of the Philippines 2022 nominee sang "Did I Let You Go," the heartache anthem from the hit series "He's Into Her," together to make his presence known.

Guelas told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he draws inspiration from personal experience, such as "a heartbreak or something that aches." However, he added, "I truly want to make Filipino Tagalog songs.

"I created a song before I was heartbroken. In essence, it's about ending a relationship too quickly. My relationship ended after we got together. "Why?" I asked myself. I could have continued this by taking further actions. And I made the decision to write a song," he said.

Guelas uses songwriting as the "escape" and "coping tool" to adjust to the breakup. "A lot of them, I'd say, are painful. Instead of being in love, it's far simpler to write about heartbreak, he emphasized.
