Since 2016, Taitung has promoted the slow food movement and has undertaken a biennial slow food review. Chefs, gourmets, and residents who support the idea of slow eating make up the judging panel. The ideas of "farm-to-table" and "savor local and seasonal food," as well as seasonal slow food markets, restaurant reviews, slow food travel to learn about the origin, etc., encourage more than only local eateries to provide unique meals. It also makes Taitung's rich culinary tradition more accessible to tourists from across the globe.
