French film director Luc Besson’s crew visits Taipei for location scouting

French film producer Virginie Besson (film director Luc Besson’s wife) led a crew to Taipei for location scouting.  Luc Besson plans to shoot his latest film in Taipei again after 2014 shooting the film “Lucy”.  When they visited one of the possible shooting locations, the rooftop of Taipei City Government Hall, mayor Wayne Chiang also accompanied with.

It was about ten years ago when Luc Besson came to Taipei to shoot the film “Lucy”, which starred Scarlett Johansson.  Most of the scenes were shot in Taipei City.  This film also grossed $463.4 million at the global box office.  Luc Besson left a good impression and memory in Taipei.  He once said that he will come to Taipei again for shooting a film, and now he did it.  The preliminary title for his new film is “A Weekend in Taipei”.  The possible shooting location includes Taipei City Government, Taipei City Council, Taipei Dome, Ximending, Zhongshan Hall, Taipei Performing Arts Center, She-Zi Bridge, and Taipei Music Center.

Taipei City mayor Wayne Chiang said the film and television industry is prosperous in Taipei.  He hoped to invite more international crew to Taipei and develop together.
